Local real estate broker, Deborah Marek, was born and raised in the Houston area and has seen it grow into a world class metropolis. Houston and the surrounding communities have become an incredible place to raise a family, start a business and forge a quality lifestyle. Over the years, Deborah has seen so many new buildings, home developments and custom homes being built all across the region.

Immersed in the Construction Field

In fact, she’s been familiar with the new construction business for most of her life. As a young child, her neighbor’s father had a home building company, and she was exposed to the trade watching her friend’s father build both homes and his business. Later, she helped start and run a home building and construction company, running all administrative duties, managing the books (she’s a trained accountant with years of experience in the field) and helping customers with design consultations and decisions. In fact, to this day, one of Deborah’s favorite hobbies is her fascination with Interior Decorating, and not only spending time decorating her own home, but also sharing her talent and knowledge with others. It was through the construction industry and her fascination with homes and home construction that led her to earn her real estate license, and eventually her broker’s license.

Where it all comes together, Deborah’s accounting and financial background, her rich experience and knowledge from working in the home construction industry, her passion for her hobby of interior decorating, and her life long and intimate knowledge of the Houston area (its history and its vibrant future), is in her work helping local Houston home buyers and sellers with the sale or purchase of their slice of the American Dream.

“There is a saying,” Deborah explains, “that if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. To me, that perfectly describes my career and life.” Deborah can’t wait to wake up each day and roll up her sleeves and help her clients with one of life’s most important investments. And truth be told, she is very good at it, and very knowledgeable.

Deborah’s passion for her career drove her to earn a broker’s license. This designation requires over 900 hours of training and courses (with required ongoing courses and training), as opposed to just a real estate “agent” license, which requires 230 hours of class time. Her broker license is your assurance that you are working with an extremely knowledgeable real estate professional, a key advantage in today’s complex real estate market. On top of that, Deborah holds an Accredited Buyer’s Representative designation, as well as having earned a GRI (Graduate Realtors Institute) designation, which many equate to a Master’s Degree in real estate.

If you ask her what her most important attribute she brings to the table when she helps her clients, Deborah will say it’s her “patience” and her ability to remain calm, level headed and be the grounded professional who keeps control during what is almost always an emotional process. “A real estate transaction has a lot of moving parts,” says Deborah. “Add the emotional impact that affects both parties and their agents, and it can be a challenging process.” Deborah has built a solid reputation for keeping transactions moving forward and as smooth as possible.

Deborah enjoys helping all buyers and sellers, but she really enjoys working with clients looking to buy or sell in 55 + communities and active adult developments. She serves all over Houston, but her focus is on North and Northwest Houston and Montgomery County. When Deborah is not busy helping her clients, or taking on a decorating project in her home, she relaxes through her other passion, music. Deborah is a renowned piano player, having earned a degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She is a classically trained pianist, but enjoys playing with other musicians, or playing in her church from time to time.
